Travel journalism

After unexpectedly finding myself in the writing industry, travel writing became my first true love. It was something I excelled at and it put me on the right track to establish a writing career.

I have been charged with creating travel stories right through from conception, to planning, travelling, documenting, photographing, writing and finally producing them into full feature articles.

Here I recount some of my adventures…

BRAVING THE BEYOND

Seeking adventure, I head to northern Namibia in a soft-roader to test its capabilities. This is my account of the stark and less populated north, the literal bumps-in-the-road and the shortfalls and amazing discoveries we made along the way.

ROUND TRIP

Just how far can you get into Lesotho without a passport? We took a not-so-short cut around Lesotho,  staying on the SA side of the border, wandering into no-man’s-land and just touching Lesotho.

We encountered ever-changing terrain along the way, as well as the cultural overflow of both countries.

LIGHTS, CAMERA… BRAAI!

A media tour with Renault saw us trekking the length of Namibia in just 3 days, ending up star-struck on the popular Ultimate Braai Master TV series, eating our way through the desert and putting the new Renault Duster through its impressive paces.

GOING THE DISTANCE

This cross-country trip through southern Africa was long, extreme, and in every sense of the word - adventurous.

With a string of 14 different vehicles, a vast combination of personalities, various countries and terrains made for an unforgettable journey. The best testing situations for the new Continental Tyres’ new General Grabber MTS.

back to school

Who knew school could be so exhilarating?

I headed off to he eastern Free State for a weekend of action with the Isuzu Off-Road Acedemy.

We challenged the capabilities of the new KB, heading off-road, with rock-clambering and more under the guidance of the academy’s skilled instructors. I came back with a plethora of new knowledge, tips and tricks and a substantial respect for the capabilities of this new front-runner.
